In 1972, the Government introduced a new Registration system for Fire Service Installation Contractors of Hong Kong.

Chief Fire Officer (Prevention) of Hong Kong Fire Service Department Mr. M K Lane attended the first preliminary meeting of The Association held on 23/09/72 to brief the industry regarding the new Government Regulations for Registered Fire Service Installation Contractors.

The formation of the Association was planned after the meeting, 3 temporary office bearers were elected for the establishment of the Association:

Chairman : Mr. Michael J Green of Arnhold & Co. Ltd.
Secretary : Mr. R A Payne of Fire Engineering (HK) Ltd
Treasurer : Mr. Stanley Leong of Yue Sang Engineering Ltd

The first Committee, which consisted 6 founding members, was formed. Including 6 founding members there were total 32 members.

The official formation of the Association was on 5 February 1974. Hong Kong Fire Service Department was then informed and the formal dialog between the industry and the government started.
